Bored on a Sunday afternoon? Nothing to do?
However, if you have a free moment, I have to encourage you — one more time, and then I’ll shut up about it — to run over to Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart, Target (try the 1 Spot section up front), somewhere… grab some school supplies, toiletry items, some toys, maybe some candy, stick it all in a shoebox, and … Oh look! You were just charitable! That was easy!
But for realsies, as I have mentioned here and here, this upcoming week is National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child (a project of Samaritan’s Purse). In case you’ve been living under an Avoiding-Courtney’s-Blog shaped rock, this great organization collects shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifty delights and distributes them to underprivileged children around the world. But I’m starting to sounds like a broken record. For more info, read the GPP spiel here. Or the Samaritan’s Purse spiel here. Or both, if you’re feeling wild and crazy.
Oh and here are a few videos from the Samaritan’s Purse Youtube channel:
See? It does make a difference! (Warm fuzzies… ahh…..)
***I totally said I was not going to post on weekends anymore, but Oops!– I just did that. Oh well, it was for a good cause :)
